Scale & Setup Accessories
FAQ
How do I choose the right caster/camber gauge for my setup?
Start with your chassis type and the precision you need. Dirt teams benefit from digital caster/camber gauges for quick adjustments between heats, while asphalt teams often prefer magnetic gauges for stable, repeatable readings. Ensure any gauge you choose mounts securely to your hub or wheel plate.
When should I use a bump steer gauge instead of simple toe measurements?
Toe plates tell you where you are – a bump steer gauge tells you why the car reacts the way it does. Use a bump steer gauge whenever you change ride height, spindles, steering components, or anything that affects geometry through suspension travel.
Do I need a pinion angle gauge or just a pinion shim kit?
A pinion angle gauge gives you the reading; a pinion shim kit helps you set it correctly. If your drivetrain has vibration under load, inconsistent bite on corner exit, or unusual wear, you’ll likely need both tools to dial in true alignment.
How do scale accessories improve overall setup consistency?
Accurate scaling helps establish crossweight, front–rear balance, and overall load distribution. Accessories like leveling pads, ramps, and modular scale plates ensure your readings reflect how the car will sit on track, not just on the shop floor.
Are digital caster/camber gauges better than analog versions?
Both work well when they’re built right. Digital gauges provide fast, clear readings with less room for human error, while analog and magnetic caster/camber gauges offer excellent durability in high-dust or high-vibration environments.
How does Earnhardt verify accuracy across gauges and setup tools?
Every caster/camber gauge, bump steer gauge, and pinion angle tool is checked against calibration standards for straightness, repeatability, and reliability under real shop conditions. Tools are tested for vibration resistance, magnetic strength (where applicable), and consistent readings through repeated use.
Can Earnhardt help me put together a complete setup kit?
Yeah, we can. Tell us what car you’re working on and what kind of tracks you run. We’ll sort through the caster/camber gauges, bump-steer tools, pinion angle stuff, shim kits—whatever it takes—and point you toward a setup that actually fits the job.
